Curriculum

At St. John Bosco School, we want all of our children to realise their full potential, be proud of their achievements and know the next steps they need to take in their learning.  Our curriculum aims to provide opportunities for all pupils to learn and to achieve, irrespective of social background, culture, race, gender, differences in ability and disabilities.

We teach a curriculum that is exciting, fun and imaginative introducing children to a wide range of experiences that will extend their understanding of themselves and the world around them.

At all stages, children learn, practice, combine, develop and refine a wide range of skills in their work across the curriculum.  Opportunities for teaching and learning these skills across the different key stages are identified in detailed planning.

A variety of teaching and learning strategies are used to ensure each child receives a broad and balanced curriculum based on his or her individual learning needs.  We encourage our children to become independent learners and develop their thinking skills through our Creative Curriculum.  Where possible we involve the children in planning their learning to make it relevant.  The curriculum is enriched by educational visits and visits by outside organisations.

Teachers are supported by highly trained teaching assistants and other support staff.
